Pure Organic Saffron, Picked by Hand with Care
Deep-red threads. Rich aroma. Nothing added, nothing hidden. Sattvaya Saffron is grown without pesticides, hand-picked in Kashmir by gloved and masked hands, and lab tested before it reaches you.

The World’s Most Precious Spice, Grown with Patience
For centuries, kesar has been prized in India: in royal kitchens, in Ayurvedic healing, in temple offerings and wedding feasts. It is called “red gold” for a reason. Every saffron thread is the tiny stigma of a crocus flower, and each flower gives only three.
Roughly 150,000 flowers are needed to make a single kilogram of saffron. The flowers bloom for just a few weeks each autumn and must be picked at dawn, before the sun fades their colour and aroma. There is no shortcut, and no machine can do this gently enough.
At Sattvaya, we honour that tradition. We grow without pesticides, pick by hand in the valleys of Kashmir, and keep hygiene at the centre of every step.
One Pinch. Endless Ways to Use It.
From your morning milk to festive sweets and daily self-care, a few threads go a long way.
- Kesar milk: soak 4–5 threads in warm milk for golden colour and gentle aroma, a calming bedtime ritual.
- Biryani & pulao: bloom in warm water or milk and layer over rice for royal colour and fragrance.
- Sweets & desserts: kheer, rasmalai, shrikhand, halwa, kulfi and gulab jamun.
- Kahwa & teas: a few threads add warmth, aroma and a soothing cup.
- Ayurveda & wellness: used in traditional preparations and daily wellness routines for generations.
- Skin & rituals: a traditional ingredient in skin-care preparations, pujas and festive offerings.

What Makes Saffron Special, Down to the Molecule
Saffron’s colour, taste and aroma come from natural compounds that researchers have studied for years. The better the saffron, the richer these compounds.
Natural carotenoid giving deep golden-red colour and antioxidant activity.
Gives saffron its distinctive, slightly bitter-sweet flavour.
The volatile oil behind saffron’s honey-like fragrance.
Studied for antioxidant activity and its role in mood and wellbeing research.
Early studies explore saffron’s potential role in mood, sleep, memory and eye health. Research is ongoing. Saffron is a food and traditional wellness ingredient, not a medicine. Consult your doctor for any health condition.
Hand-Harvested. Hygiene First. Every Single Thread.
Saffron flowers are delicate. The red stigmas must be picked and separated by hand, so machine harvesting is simply not possible. Because every thread is in direct contact with human hands, hygiene matters even more.
That is why every Sattvaya harvester works with a face mask, gloves and head cover, from the first flower to the last thread.

Saffron FAQs
Is Sattvaya saffron 100% pure?
Yes. Our saffron is 100% pure threads with no added colours, additives or fillers, and it is lab tested.
Are pesticides used?
No pesticides are used during crop plantation. We grow naturally and keep the process clean from the start.
Why is saffron hand-harvested?
Each flower holds only three delicate stigmas, which must be picked and separated by hand. Machines cannot do this without damaging the threads, so our team works with mask, gloves and head cover to keep every thread hygienic.
How do I use saffron?
Soak 4–5 threads in 2–3 tablespoons of warm milk or water for 10–15 minutes, then add to milk, tea, rice or desserts.
How do I check if saffron is real?
Real saffron slowly releases a golden-yellow colour in water while the thread stays red. Fake saffron turns water red quickly and the threads lose colour.
How should I store it?
Keep in an airtight container away from light, heat and moisture.
